Three Illegal Cases of Transporting Hazardous Chemicals in General Cargo Trucks Caught on Highways; Illegal Transportation of Coal Tar Draws Attention
Release time:2026-03-20
The Sixth Detachment of the Fifth Highway Brigade conducted a concentrated enforcement campaign at the Qicun Service Area on the Cangyu Expressway, consecutively uncovering three cases of ordinary freight vehicles illegally transporting hazardous chemicals. All the cargo involved was coal tar, classified as a flammable liquid. The cases have now been referred to the Comprehensive Law Enforcement Team for further handling.
According to reports, during an inspection, law enforcement officers initially discovered a standard cargo truck whose driver falsely claimed to be transporting vegetable oil. Only after officers requested a sample for testing did the driver admit to carrying coal tar. Subsequently, law enforcement again uncovered two similar violations in quick succession: both vehicles involved were standard cargo trucks that had not obtained the requisite hazardous chemicals transportation permit and were lacking any safety protection equipment. By illegally transporting flammable liquid coal tar on public roads, these vehicles posed a significant safety hazard.
Law enforcement officials stated that ordinary freight vehicles lack specialized safety features such as explosion-proof, anti-static, and leak-proof systems. When transporting flammable liquids and other hazardous chemicals, any leakage or collision can easily trigger fires or explosions. The three violations uncovered in this enforcement action all contravene the Regulations on the Administration of Road Transportation of Dangerous Goods, and the persons held accountable will face penalties such as fines and demerit points; in serious cases, criminal liability will be pursued.
